The Jean Gray Hargrove Music Library was named for its founder, a Berkeley pianist and Cal alumna. Designed by the architectural firm Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects, the library opened in 2004, and houses approximately 191,000 volumes of printed music and books, 56,000 recordings, 42,000 microforms, and many manuscript and archival collections, ranging from classical Western to international classical and popular.
