This is a model of a real-life house located at 2640 Beekman Street in the North Fairmount neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. Constructed in 1885, the large house dates to a time in which the neighborhood was a thriving area of the city, and home to many middle-class and upper-class residents. The house had a garage constructed on the rear (East) facade sometime in the 1920s, which is currently in a state of advanced deterioration.
Over time, the surrounding neighborhood filled in and densified, and this house was eventually subdivided into apartments, being vacated decades ago. Recently, the house was cleaned up and stabilized, which makes me hopeful that someday the house will be restored or renovated and once again occupied. The house is surrounded by several temple-front houses, as well as a couple of commercial structures, many of which, reflecting the current fortunes of the North Fairmount neighborhood, are currently vacant.
