The Double Drag was the most efficient modification of the Fenra's Exporer design. Due mostly to its reduced size that made it possible to be staffed with a much more managable crew size and funded with much more reasonable grants, The Class II was responsible for much of the initial mapping of other planetary systems. Like all of the Explorer vessels, the Double Drag contained several small fields between the engines which made it possible to produce both food and livestock and allowed them to travel greater distances without draining supplies. Since the Class II was such a large ship assembled near stations rather than planets, it was never intended to make landfall and was thusly equipped with three ship-to-surface shuttles, two small and one medium, as well as 36 fighters.
