The Sabre-class Star Destroyer, a ship made by the Warship Section of Kuat Drive Yards, was a popular class of Star Destroyers for Galactic Republic Captains on their first assignment. Those that did found the Sabres to be easy to command, maintain, and upgrade as their first ship of their own. Most went on to command larger classes of Star Destroyers used by the Galactic Republic; such as the Guardian-class, Unification-class, the Venator-class, and even the Chancellor-class Star Destroyer. Role-wise, the Sabres were used as flagships of support vessel fleets or possibly flagships of frigate/corvette battlegroups sent to bolster other battlegroups or to pacify small-scale settlements that had gone rogue.
