The New Arbeiterkammer Wien was built by NMPB architects from 2006 to 2008. The main purpose of the building ist office use and consultations to the memberes of the Arbeiterkammer. The building also hosts a public library. The architects carefully adapted the old building from the Fifties with modern isolation and better access for discapacitated people and also added new parts to the building.
While the old building was designed for office use only, the new one has adapted more to the needs of the clients. Now a spaceous hall where visitors are received was created. The consultations are now made in the coloured pavillons reaching into the garden.
The orientation of the new building to the old one is due to the monument protection of the old facade. With the conservation of the old building and careful enlargement lot of space was created still preserving very much of the spaceous garden.
