Coroplast Universal Canopy System

Coroplast Universal Canopy System

Sam S.
This is a canopy system I've been experimenting with for several years. It uses 4x8 sheets of 4mm coroplast (twin wall polypropylene), which are cheap and widely available. I get mine for about $10-12/sheet, depending on quantity. When scored and folded, polypropylene makes incredibly durable hinges, which can be used to assemble the panels to a wide variety of different shapes and configurations, including domes, arches, triangles, and rectangles. This is an example of what is sometimes called "pure-plate" or "spaceframe" architecture. The template is designed to maximize simplicity and minimize waste from 4x8 sheet material. The shape itself is a right triangle sub-division of an equilateral triangle. This geometry lends itself well to linear/rectangular assemblies, as well as triangular/hexagonal geometries, depending on how the panels are assembled. A wide range of cheap, durable, deployable structures can be made in this way.
