Custom subwoofer enclosure modeled with 10" JL Audio 10W6 V2 D4 drivers in a dual sealed system. Designed with 2012 Hyundai Sonata Limited stock trunk dimensions as a baseline. Will also fit 2011 Hyundai Sonata, and GLS, SE vehicles from 2011-12 model years. Enclosure requires removal of stock 8" subwoofer (if equipped), as well as minor modification to rear deck (stock subwoofer) cover, and rear deck metal to allow proper air coupling with the cabin space of the vehicle.
The sealed volume of each enclosure half is approx. 0.8 cubic feet when driver displacement is accounted for (0.068 cubic ft./driver in this example). Sealed volume is 0.87 cubic feet per side before speaker displacement.
Air coupling is achieved via two openings: one directly above the drivers, and the other on the vertical back wall, firing towards the rear seat backs. As noted previously, some minor modification to the rear deck speaker grill and deck metal will be required for optimal upward sound propagation from the trunk space into the passenger cabin.
