The Pioneer Panzer 2A1 Dachs or Pioneer Panzer Dachs belongs to the group of combat support vehicles and is the successor to Pioneer Panzer 1. It is an armored pioneer work tool and is based on the Leopard 1 chassis. His area of responsibility includes the rescue of damaged vehicles, the manufacture of entrances and exits as well as entries and exits at water crossing points or steep and muddy riparian zones, making the bottom of the water accessible and the creation and removal of obstacles and barriers on the battlefield. The vehicle is used by the pioneers and armored pioneers of the army of the Bundeswehr as well as by the Canadian armed forces under the name Badger - Armored Engineering Vehicle (AEV). It is also used by the Chilean army. It is the first armored engineer vehicle of the Bundeswehr to be specifically optimized for the areas in which the pioneers are deployed
