The 43 m high tower consists of an internal steel supporting structure and curtain-type steel lattice facades.
Originally, at the level of the hoisting machine platform, a circumferential, narrowly projecting catwalk was set in front of the facades. The lettering "Osterfeld IV" was attached to the metal bars of the balustrade on all sides, accompanied by the logos of the Gutehoffnungshütte. Large window areas with narrow metal mullions illuminate the tower.
The tower's grassy hanging bank is surrounded by a solid brick shaft hall with large rectangular windows that are now closed. The gable roof of the shaft hall ends on both side facades in triangular gables with lunette windows in the gable field (which have also been replaced). In the north gable there is the inscription 192. with the company logo of GHH.
