Park Bench

Park Bench

Clark Mills
Bought a couple of old small cast iron park bench ends and wanted to experiment with the build in the computer before committing to timber. The cast iron timber connections and the two small braces are dimensionally correct. I didn't bother entering the cast iron lacework detail but I did include the photo I used to import the design into SketchUp. There are two components - one for the wider boards and one for the narrower ones. You can play with the sizing to suit your needs. The original plank thickness was ~ half an inch based on the rusty bolt / screw remains. I'm using 21mm decking so this is what's modelled. Originally there probably would be a strap mid board that tied all the boards together - this isn't modelled but will be installed in the build. Bench width was just sized to suit my needs - I have no idea what the original width was. Board gaps will be wedged evenly before drilling - the bolt-hole spacing isn't precise.
