"Saint Petka" is a Bulgarian Orthodox church in Plovdiv, consecrated in 1888, located in downtown boulevard of "Princess Maria-Luisa", near the Roman Catholic Cathedral "St. Ludwig". The church is designed in a Renaissance model and is considered as pseudo-basilica. The Architect of "New St. Petka" is Dimitar Naumov. The exterior decoration of the building is modest, and the eastern part has a triangular pediment and a semicircular apse. Two decades after the begining of its construction the Church was finished under the direction of architect Joseph Schnitter . Most impressive is the bell tower with its large size, which is a copy of the tower bells of the "Holy Virgin" Cathedral. The iconostasis, pulpit and bishop's throne are work of master Peter Kushlev of Shiroka Luka, and the icons - of the artist Peter Dzhamdzhiev. #belfry #bell #bulgaria #cathedral #christian #church #cross #europe #iglesia #monument #old #orthodox #plovdiv #temple #tower
