A laneway development on this heavily sloping site will be tricky, but well worth the effort. This particular site slopes drastically from the front yard all the way to the lane resulting in very little usability of the rear yard.
This unique site called for a unique design that offered both function and form. Our Architrix laneway proposal aims to provide a level rear yard using the walls of the laneway house as retaining walls thus creating a usable roof deck over the main floor. The majority of the laneway will be constructed below grade with a 1/2 story above grade. With this configuration the public spaces, living and eating, are located on the upper level and the bedroom will be located on the lower level.
