The Thielen Student Health Center was built in 1997 and gave Iowa State University three times more space and put all clinical services on the same floor. The facility was dedicated to Thomas B. Thielen in 2001. Thielen served as vice president for student affairs at Iowa State from 1977 to 1997, and worked closely with student leaders to create the new student health center. Services are partially funded by a student fee, which is charged to all students taking 5 credits or more each semester. Along with general medical services, the center offers orthopedics, psychiatry, allergy and travel clinics, physical therapy, pharmacy, laboratory and X-ray services, nutrition counseling, fitness assessments, and time/stress management counseling. This model was completed by Benjamin Schwartz. #Student_Health_Center
