[Note the outer membrane is not labeled] The outer membrane is the thin layer surrounding the whole cell.
It's purpose is to allow only certain molecules in to the cell as it is semi-permeable. The Inner Membrane also is
host to ATP Synthase and electron transfer proteins that act as pumps for Hydrogen ions. It is also semi-permeable.
