Mitochondrion

Mitochondrion

Alex
A model of a mitochondrion. [Note the outer membrane is not labeled] The outer membrane is the thin layer surrounding the whole cell. It's purpose is to allow only certain molecules in to the cell as it is semi-permeable. The Inner Membrane also is host to ATP Synthase and electron transfer proteins that act as pumps for Hydrogen ions. It is also semi-permeable. [For Living Environment Cell Project] MZ
