Beehive Corner defines the western entrance to Rundle Mall. The distinctive building that now occupies the Beehive Corner site was completed in 1896. It replaced an earlier, much plainer, building, which was widely known by the Beehive Corner name by 1849. The current building is ornately decorated in Gothic Revival style although it has been simplified from its 1890s appearance. In 1896 the Beehive Corner building was used to exhibit the first moving pictures in Adelaide, after the Theatre Royal proved an inappropriate venue. #adelaide #beehive_corner #howie #sensational_adelaide
