This is a miniature model of the medieval catupult like weapon called a trebuchet. It uses weights to fling the arm and rolling wheels on a track to propel the arm farther forward and faster. This design shows the arm in the uncocked position. It can throw a golf ball roughly 30 meters to 35 meters with roughly 12 pounds of total counterweight. The pouch is just a piece of cloth and the line attached to it was simple string.
