Dining chair

James MacDonald.
This is the plan I used to make a set of 8 formal dining chairs. The chairs were constructed of cherry and the foam seat tops covered with needle points done by my grandmother during the 1930s. The curved back slats were made by milling wood to the 1" width of the slats, and then cutting the 3/8" thick curved sections on the band saw. A squaring jig was used for assembling the side frames which were then joined together with the single front and three back rails. Mortise and tenon joinery was used throughout. #dining_chair
