Alden Dow Unit Blocks

Alden Dow Unit Blocks

Larnie H.
Patented in 1938 – Alden Dow Unit Blocks are designed to create walls 12 or 6 inches on center. They gain strength by reversing the pattern with each course. Similar to Frank Lloyd Wright's "textile block" system – the Unit Blocks are more structural and create a solid wall once filled with concrete. Designed to be made with the cinders from furnaces at Dow Chemical — many of Alden Dow's Unit Block houses can been seen in Midland, Michigan.
