The Arquitens-class light cruiser, also known as the Jedi light cruiser, or Republic light cruiser, and later as the Imperial light cruiser, was a line of warships designed by Kuat Drive Yards. Initially serving for the Galactic Republic, it was then later reworked and upgraded well into the Galactic Civil War, with the most notable variant being the Arquitens-class command cruiser. It was moderately armed, with a quartet of quad laser cannons, turbolasers and missile tubes, filling in the role of an escort cruiser.
Due to its weapons, power output and size, the Arquitens-class light cruiser may also serve as a lead ship for smaller battle groups, for engaging in smaller battles.
