The Morane-Saulnier MS.406 was the first modern fighter aircraft of the 1930s to enter service with units of the French Air Force, and one of the most famous French combat aircraft of the Second World War. It was the first French fighter to exceed 400 km/h, and one of two French aircraft of this type built in more than 1,000 units, along with the Potez 630.
