The newly renovated Engineering building is located where the original Engineering building had been constructed in 1971. It is located on South Campus near the Du Bois Center and the Social and Behavior Sciences buildings. This project added 18,000 square feet to the original 70,000 square feet of the original building.
Engineering had originally been designed to earn a Silver LEED rating. With the use of reclaimed water for all facility landscaping and in waste conveyance as well as the use of strategic and natural lighting to lower electrical use, Engineering earned a higher rating of "Gold" than had been expected. It earned 40 out of the 69 total points for its LEED certification.
The Engineering building houses classrooms, a teaching auditorium that can hold 90 students, over a dozen computer labs for engineering students, as well as the Sustainable Energy Systems research. #engineering #green #LEED #NAU #northern_arizona_university
