Near the end of the Silurian period, 400 million years ago, fish began to expand and diversify from thier small role in the oOrdovician and early Silurian. Among the new types of fish that began to evolve were the Cephalaspids, a group related to the fish that would give rise to jawed fishes, which would eventually take over the seas. In the Silurian, however, fish were still just small fry. Cephalaspis, at one and a half feet long, was dwarfed by most of the monster invertabrates roaming the waters at that time. #animal #armor #birdman #cephalaspis #devonian #fish #monster #prehistoric #silurian #vertabrate
