Modified Arleigh Burke-class destroyers can replace the Navy's Ticonderoga-class cruisers
with modern hulls that offer improved survivability, easier upkeep, and room for growth
by adding 32 cells to the forward VLS (for a total 128 fore+aft) and inserting a 53' Destroyer
Payload Module (PDM) forward of Main Engine Room 1 to accomodate displaced systems.
I opted to implement a "double-ender" two-gun configuration with the helo deck amidships
inspired by the Royal Navy Type 43 destroyer proposal (www.shipbucket.com/drawings/6038),
for which extensive research was done to confirm that the topside arrangement was viable.
Also included a straightforward variant that is essentially a Flight IIA with the PDM spliced in;
I combined the funnels on both variants to reduce the RCS, EM clutter, and topside weight.
