─ Now demolished and replaced by a new one ─ The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge was a lift bridge over the Piscataqua River between Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Kittery, Maine. It was a double-deck, with a road deck above and a railroad below. The construction took place in the 1939-1940. The bridge had a length of 855 meters and a width of more than 9 meters. The Lift span open, for ships was 41 meter. Upon its dedication in 1940 the Sarah Long was simply known as the Maine-New Hampshire Bridge. It was renamed in 1987 to honor Sarah Mildred Long, a 50-year employee of the Maine-New Hampshire Interstate Bridge Authority. The demolition began on October 14, 2016 and was completed in April 2017.
