AIRTRAX side-winding wheel for omnidirectional vehicles

Christmas S.
This is how to build a side-winding vehicle which can move in any direction, including turning in place, sideways (side-winding) and a combination of all those movements. More details available at http://www.airtrax.com/ Watch video on the link above to see how this works. How to build it: (Size is arbitrary for tutorial only) 1-Draw cylinder according to wheel size. Draw the inner rectangle and circle inside the cylinder. Pink circle is in the middle of the diagonal rectangle. 2-The rim of the pink circle draws the barrel using “follow-me” function on the blue area. 3-A barrel is formed out of the blue surface. Barrel is made into a group 4-Pink circle is in the middle of the barrel. Push-pull from both ends (to keep it in the middle) to desired width, and turn it into disk. Make it a group or component. 5-Disk rim sticks outside the barrel. Use “Outer shell”, mend barrel and disk. 6-Delete disk protrusions. Instead of the barrel, you have two half-barrels. Create the faces which face each-other, then build the inner bearing (metal color) to join the halves into one component. 7-Use the guide to copy-and-spin and make six barrels. #airtrax #omnidirectional #sidewinder #wheel
