Sustainable Elements of Changing Rooms
The changing rooms for the ASA’s new campus were designed with sustainable elements because we care about our environment and saving money. The changing rooms are energy efficient because no air conditioning will be needed, and no electricity for water heating and light will be needed. The room will be ventilated by the air vents near the roof (every other brick is left out on top row of bricks). Hot water for showers and sinks will be heated by running the hot water pipes through the roof, where there will be solar panels heating the water up. The solar panels will store heat from the sun to heat up the water and store energy from the sun to generate light in the changing rooms when needed. The changing rooms will also be water efficient because a lot of water will be saved. The urinal in the boys changing room will be a waterless urinal, therefore using no water. Using water from the sinks and showers to flush the toilets will save water; here is a picture of how that will work (same with shower water):
