Custom gate I designed for my Texas property. The stone & brick pillars already existed but there were no atttachments points for the hinges. To overcome this I built steel pillars and attached them to the stonework with steel bands. In addition I bolted the base down to the concrete driveway. All the hardware used is stainless steel. The ballisters are a combination of iron and cedar. The insert panels at the top are actual cast iron simulating oak leaves and acorns. The model does not do them justice. The casting is actually open between the frame and the branches/leaves/acorns. The castings are also double sided and after painting them gloss black I highlighted the high points with a product called Rub-n-Buff (antique gold). The gate openers are made by Apollo. This gate is a push to open design requiring some customization of the brackets in order to get the pivot points right. While the profile of the gate opener isn't exact, the critical dimensions are.
